Golf Day raises £63k for charities

The sun was out once again for our third Sheila Melvin (Gomes) Memorial Cup Charity Golf Day in memory of Sheila a member of staff. With 25 teams of four enjoying a good breakfast they were then on the tees for 12 Noon at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denham. This year we were raising money for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at the Mount Vernon Hospital where Sheila was cared for and the Sam Beare Hospice in Woking – PauLet’s Room in memory of Bob & Sue Kensey’s daughter Paulet who sadly died at a young age.

After an amazing afternoon of golf everyone had dinner and took a look at the fabulous items in the Silent Auction which included signed Irish Rugby Shirts, Afternoon Tea at the Ritz and a British Lions Shirt. We also had a live Auction with 17 Lots including a French Golf Trip flying by Private Jet, 4 Ball at Doonbeg, Show Tickets for o2 and the West End. Both were a great success raising lots of money for the charities.

With the support of our suppliers, customers and families we presented the charities an astounding £63,000 in total, which would be split between them.
Martin, Shane and all at Thames Materials would like to thank everyone who supported us and the charities.
