The job was completed to client satisfaction in November 2013. Thames Materials have completed another successful bulk excavation for Get Jar in Westminister Bridge Rd, moving 10,000 cubic metres of material in just over three weeks.

Our drivers undertook the one day course at the Head Office in Uxbridge for a FORS safe urban driving, designed specifically for driving HGV’s safely around the streets of London. It was well received by all the drivers that took the course and a second one has been scheduled for later in the year. We are committed to providing all the training necessary to ensure we keep the streets safe for all.
A new excavation project on Chelsea Manor Street project has started with Getjar. Thames Materials are undertaking the removal of 20,000 cubic meters of muck away on a dig load and cart basis whilst working alongside Getjar and their client.
Thames Materials now have 20 drivers passed up to CPC level, and these drivers are in the process of completing am NVQ level 2 in professional driving. The Driver CPC is a new qualification for professional lorry drivers. It stands for Driver Certificate of Professional Competence and has been given the Government go-ahead. Holding a vocational driving licence will not be sufficient for someone who wishes to drive these vehicles for a living. Brentham Football Club have unveiled their new changing rooms which were part-funded by Thames Materials as part of their “Supporting Local Business and the Local Community through Local Sponsorship” campaign.
Our drivers have undergone professional training courses to boost awareness of the hazards faced by cyclists on the roads. A team of 20 drivers from Thames Drivers swapped the comfort of their driving cabins for cycles and found themselves wobbling unsteadily amid refuse lorries, coaches and a road-sweeper. The drivers learned how cyclists cope with the threat of sudden door opening, HGVs turning left without warning and dealing with impatient car drivers.
